I currently have a 512 stick of Corsair XMS PC3500 memory. If I want to add the same memory to my dual channel slots it's going to cost me a lot of money, so I’m selling this memory because it’s to much to upgrade with. I've been looking on newegg.com and found some Mushkin memory. From what I hear it's great memory for the price. I'm not going with 3500 because I don’t really feel I need it. I figure 3200 will be fine, anyways the link below is the Mushkin memory I am looking at. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Mushkin = Good RAM

You can't go wrong purchasing that RAM. You can get good timings out of it and it should be stable.
 
i have done quite a bit of reading and researchy stuff looking for the best (and cheapest) computer possible, and this is the exact model of ram i had in my wishlist :)

Good Memory :)

But you should know that you'll be replacing your BH-5 module with CH-5 modules. To most this does not matter. To a few others, it's a whole other story.
 
looks like decient ram to me... I personally would go with a 2x512 configuration if I were you, but thats just my opinoin. Very good timings on the RAM.

You want this for dual channel?

I'd say it's not worth it. Dual channel's performance boost in Athlon XP systems is at most like ~3%.

Stick with the Corsair, if it's BH-5 RAM I'd think the 2-2-2 timings would basically make up the difference.

And yes, Mushkin rocks.
 
I have Corsair in my #1 rig (sigged) and Mushkin in the i856 / P4 2.6 machine I built for the better half. I will tell you this - if you buy and have any issues with the memory from either one of these companies, they will bust their butts to make it right. I've heard of both taking care of stuff clearly out of warranty for one reason or another, with nothing more than a "thank you".

Mushkin has some very solid products. Of course, the BH5 memory is the rare and desirable product depending on who you ask, but IMHO the CH5 product is good, solid memory from a company that will stand behind it if you have issues. A 'no worries' deal, to be sure.....:cool:

JMHO - YMMV - etc.

I dont think so. Reason being is even though it will run 2-2-2, Mushkin ran out of BH-5 chips so now their using BH-6 chips. BH-6 chips are only 166MHz chips unlike the 200Mhz BH-5 chips. So they wont overclock as well as the BH-5 version.

I'd like to hear from someone that does have them though so i could find out just how well they do overclock. With the proper voltage they should still be abel to run around 220Mhz with 2-2-2 timings. But to save money i would just get Mushkin PC3500 lvl 1 with CH-5 chips. The difference between 2-3-2 and 2-2-2 is pretty negligible.

They are BH-6.
 
Mushkin is very good ram. From my experiences, the black hi-performance pc3200 ram owns Corsair in dual channel. Granted they have bh6s but they are good overclockers at harsh timings. If youre lucky you might find some with bh5 chips which will just make the difference even more substantial.

Bottomline: You can't go wrong with Mushkin. Mushkin is cheaper and better, not by much, than Corsair.
