I have an Epox 4PDA2+ rev. 2 motherboard and two unmatched 512MB sticks of Corsair Ram (1xPC3200 and 1xPC3500 v1.1). These seem to work fine at stock speeds. but have problems above 210 FSB even with the loosest timings (3-4-4-8). With only the Corsair PC3500 stick I can do ~245 FSB 1:1 at 2.9v. Since the Corsair PC3500 v1.1 has the Winbond BH5 chips on it and I cannot seem to fine another 512MB Corsair PC3500 v1.1 module (checked EBay) I was wondering if a 512MB stick of Mushkin would work well as a match to the Corsair stick.

I know that the Mushkin PC3500 Lvl 2 uses the Winbond BH5 chips but it is impossible to find these sticks except in the dual packs (at Newegg only). I was wondering what the chips Lvl 1 sticks had? Newegg has the Lvl 1 512MB module at $105, but I cannot find what chips are on the module either at Newegg or on mushkin.com.

Anyone know what memory chips the Lvl 1 module has on it? Any ideas if it would work well with my existing Corsair even if the Lvl 1 does have the BH5 chips?

All ideas appreciated.

Mushkin Level I has Winbond CH5 chips. I highly recommend you look for another BH5 stick to go with your Corsair XMS3500 v1.1.

I have two sticks of Winbond CH5 and two Winbond BH5, if I try to mix a CH5 and a BH5 stick together in either system they wont even post. Winbond CH5's are just generally not good for compatibility.

I would try to stay with same brand, same exact model, with same SPD programming. Having different model sticks in there may cause you not to maximize your OC and may cause PAT to default to a lower a level.

Worse case, you could buy 1 stick of LvL 1 and if everything doesnt work well, buy a 2nd stick & use 2 sticks of LvL 1
and sell both your old sticks.
