Mushkin level one

if youre not planning to overclock or only doing minor overclocking (i.e. 2500 to 3200) then you can go with some even cheaper RAM such as the Geil stuff which is very decent at least in my experiences and ive overclocked heavily. So save yourself a few bucks and buy some flowers for your girl :) .

The three ram companies I was planning on getting are: Kingston, Corsair, and Mushkin. I want 1 gig of ram. I was thinking about getting some Mushkin level 2, but it was about $100 more then the Level 1. I checked out Corsair's best pc3200LL, and it was $40 more then the Mushkin level 1, with the same exact timings. I checked out some Corsair value pc3200 for $155 which seems pretty good. If I were to run the barton 2500+ at 200FSB, then I wouldn't have to overclock these PC3200 modules at all. I might want to go a little further then 200FSB, but its no problem if I cant. I guess I am just looking for ram timings and reliability.

Also, If I had a girl friend I would get her flowers. I am 14yrs old.....all in due time I guess..... I homeschool, so I dont see girls every day.

thanks man.

I'd like to know also, i'm looking to buy some of this too to overclock my p4 2.6C, as i can't afford the LVL2.

the level II mushkin is the only one that has Winbond BH-5 chips...which tend to overclock heavily. i would assume that level 1 uses CH-5 which will probably be fine for stock speeds (but wont do 2-2-2-5 like level 2) and mild o/c'ing

I've run the Mushkin L1 in a number of workstations I've built up, and it's solid stuff. Not sure how it OC's, as these boxes were running at OEM speeds....but have to be falling brick reliable. No regrets. I will buy it again, to be sure.

My usual: For servers / lab machines, I buy Crucial. Period. Never an issue, no regrets.

For OC's / [H]otRod builds, I buy Corsair or Mushkin, depending on who has the best deal at the time. L2 / low latency if it's in the price range, but the L1 / "normal" RAM from these companies is completely solid, too.

And - maybe the best part - Corsair, Mushkin, and Crucial all get ten gold stars for their customer service. You will not regret doing business with any of these guys.

There is other RAM out there, but I'm running on the "not broke / don't fix it" plan.....:D

Rock On - B.B.S.

Well. I'll let you know soon as I just ordered 2x256mb of Mushkin Level 1 [ in a set] to go into the Abit IC7 along with a P4 2.8c.
The 2.8c was on sale at Newegg for $183 today only. That and Abit coming out with a new bios today re: Prescott made me say now is a good time to grab a Northwood.
Look at my sig and you'll see this will be a worthy upgrade for me.:D
This stuff is going into an Antec 1080 amg with 430 true power ps along with a WD 80gb 8mb cache and a 52x cd-rw and other items I already have. Waited a long time to do this, now I can't wait;)
Abit bios update Version 21
Updated CPU micro code for Prescott.
Changed default RTC year to 2004.
Updated Intel OSB logo.
Fixed an issue where a system with BIOS 20 will hang at post code “AF” with certain memory modules is installed.
BIOS compile date: 01/28/2004
