Does anyone know where to purchase these Murderbox cases? I see them all over the web but can't find a single damn store that sells them. Are these custom-ordered cases like Mountain Mods? Even their website doesn't have much info.

Right now murderbox is in the process of making a newer case, so at the moment they are not selling their murdermod case. However, the website does show some teaser pics. I have no idea when the new case is suppose to be out last I heard was October.

Thanks for info. Would you happen to know why no resellers carry Murderbox? Is Murderbox that exclusive?

Nah, the murdermod was about a 1000 limited cases if I an right but don't quote me on that. New case is murderbox mkII.

Lol, maybe not that much because of production cost but he probably did make some mad money.

If he made 1,000 cases at $1,000 each, he made $1 million. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I know math.)

I am involved in a machine shop, I can tell you right now, he made a small fraction of that.

Tungsten carbide, aluminum, electricity, rent, labor, taxes...

I would hazard a guess at a 15% margin, if he was lucky.

From what I've been reading, it seems like it was just him and one other guy doing it from their home garage or something... *scratches head*

No homo, obviously.

Wonder why he killed murdermods though, guess he wanted to provide complete cases instead of TJ07 parts?

Afaik, there will be parts too, over 40 different parts. Case is optional, you will be still able to costomize regular tj07.

He's still using the TJ07 for the new one, I would have thought he would have moved onto a newer model.

Nice looking, but it's just a TJ07 with a custom front panel, back panel and top...
He had the parts laser cut, so if you didn't mind spending money and had a bit of skill in illustrator and some design skill you could whip up your own customised panels (as long as you didn't rip off his design, that would be rude)

Yes but, the MK2 case is not just moded tj07, but new case manufactured by silverstone. If you look at teaser pictures, you can see that unibody is different, it doesn't have any 5,25'' bays, just one piece of aluminium. This is something you can't mod on your own, out of regular TJ07. So if you want new murdermod that looks like MKII case from teaser pics, only way to do this, will be to buy that new entire case. There will be still parts for regular tj07 though (but it will not be the same as mk2 case).

As for the case choice, I think it is good idea, Tj07 is really good, size, proportions. Imo it is better case than overpriced and really big tj11. Tj07 is big enough to fit high-end rig with sli, and enough radiators to cool it, also what is more important, with that top panel window, makes probably best case in terms of look, and showing LC loop. It is matter of taste of course, but in opinion of many, it just looks better than tj11. Also murdermod is all about liquid cooling, where tj11 features (vertical expansion slots) are aimed towards air cooling.

The TJ07 is outdated at this point, it's still only has 7 expansion slots and can't hold any boards larger then EATX. The TJ11 can hold a 560 rad in the bottom, is XL-ATX and offers a ton more interior volume to configure multiple loops. People might not like it's looks or the price, but it does what it was designed to do well.

We'll have to see what features the new MKII offers and what case it's based on.

Imo murdermod concept is not necessarily about large motherboards, dual loops, 560 radiators, dual cpu motherboards ect. It is beautiful because it is balanced. 480 + 240 rad can easily cool modern high end rig with sli, you are not really supposed to put more into it. That is how I understand their philosophy, aesthetics is main goal here. if I wanted quad sli, I'd rather get some other case, size of a fridge (mountain mods, caselabs). Tj07 is medium size, and ultra high quality, still will be plenty of people interested in that particular product.

The Murdermod name is dead. He's stated the term "mod" was cheesy to begin with but they used it in a last minute decision.

Now that they've got a chance to fully go through and re-design its being dropped.....

Original case was very minimalistic as intended and was around $1000. That case you see pics of with the LCD displays was a full custom build for a customer and never sold like that.

There's no way there was 1000 cases sold worldwide, more like 100 or so.

New case is based on the TJ07 again but its 100% custom inside and out. No 5 1/4 external bays, vertical slot loading drive, etc, etc....who knows what else. Everything is made by Silverstone to Murderbox (Charles) specs, just like custom Maingear Silverstone based case.

Guessing it won't be for sale well into 2012. Hopefully we'll see details before then though.

*edit

What is the BIGGEST difference between the TJ07 and the TJ11? Is the extra $300 for the TJ11 worth it/justified?

Tj11 is much bigger. It is also black/grey inside, all parts are, unlike TJ07 which has bare aluminum interior. Also Tj11 is entirely assembled using screws, there is no single rivet used. So you can easilly take it aparat, without drilling anything, not damaging any part of the case (supposed to be modder friendly). These are at least some of the reason why it is so expensive.

The TJ07 uses only rivets? From the close-up pics I've seen, they look like normal screws and not rivets...

What do you mean? Does tj07 come with a drill in the box? :) no
But it is really easy to replace it, for example mode to inverted atx, using very basic tools, everyone should own.
