Multiplier being reset on reboot?

For some reason my multiplier on my Z68X-UD4-B3 sometimes under certain cases resets itself, I'm sure it's an option on the BIOS that I haven't turned off that does it, or maybe my mobo is faulty or that's the way it works, but anyone would happen to know how I could avoid this? I have an i5 2500K OCed to 4.5GHz and want it to stay there and not lose it after a reboot.

does it say anything like overclocking failed?

Sometimes on reboot, my Rampage III does that, i just enter bios, and then exit- it doesnt change it, but then it will overclock right and boot on exit

Possible CMOS battery gone bad? Are all settings reverting to default?

Yeah all settings reverted to default and only changed the multiplier, after reboot in certain situations which I haven't figured out it resets, sometimes it can stay fine for a couple of days.

If it were my CMOS battery everything would reset. The only thing that resets here is the multiplier.

I think that means when it tested your overclock at boot there was some type failure so it reverted to stock. I have seen mentions of this in several motherboard manuals.
