Can I run 2 disks in RAID 0 on SATA 1 and 2, and then run 2 disks in RAID 1, on SATA 3 and 4?
Thanks

On what? generally speaking with a raid controller yes you can run more then one array. Even on onboard ones.

I was thinking about how I could run raid 0 with software. So I can do that with a raid card? Would some do it, and some not?
thanks

you can run raid 1 and 0 at the same time on virtually any controller even the onboard ones

Thanks,
any recommendations on a controller? One with some external connections.
Are there drivers with the controllers, or do I still need other ones?

I thought that wasn't the case. You're saying I could run raid 0 and raid 1 off the NVraid controller on my motherboard? I have nforce4, and win32, thinking of switching back to x64 though.

Is the main advantage to hardware raid the decrease in processor usage?

Thanks!

Less processor usage, higher reliability, easily transfer to different system (just take out the card and move it), and some other advantages. Software raid is better than nothing though ;)
