Hello Everyone,
I'm getting ready to upgrade my system soon, and I may have assumed something incorrectly. The initial raid build is here :http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1586412&highlight=
The main purpose of the upgrade is to increase the size of the raid 5 array. I bought 5 4TB HDs, and another LSI 9260 4i card. My plan is to install the Raid Card concurrently with the existing one, create a 12TB Volume, and then just copy everything over. Once the transfer is complete, I would just remove the old hardware and go along on my merry little way.
While this was probably not a the cheapest route to go, I didn't really see another way to transfer 6TB of data.
Can any of you who are much smarter than I am when it comes to data storage systems let me know if you think this will work just fine? Also, even though I have bought the hardware, any advice you have would be great as well.
Thank you!
