Multiple PSU's

Is it at all possible to have 2 PSU's in your system and have both of them turn on at the same time?

I am asking because the 500w PSU that I have doesn't seem to have enough power with everything that I have in my system.

specs are as follows:

3.06 P4 Prescot w/HT
1gb DDR
ATI x850 Pro AGP
1 160gb Maxtor HD
1 80gb Maxtor HD
2 80mm Fans
2 120mm Fans
1 WC Pump
Wireless G NIC

Yes.

The mobo, CPU (p4 connector) & the video card(s) need to be on the same PSU.

The 2nd PSU can power drives, fans & bling.

- Are you sure that 1 PSU must power the CPU, mobo, and Video?

The Asus dual 7800gt video card comes with a PSU just for the video...so the PCI express slot provides SOME power, but the majority is from a separate supply.

- If we can't power the CPU/Video separately then hell...that's a HUGE advantage lost!

I posted a similar topic in the electronics modding forum HERE . I wanted to be able to have both PS's turn on when i powered on my computer, and it appears that it can be done.

I don't think that it's that big of a loss having to power the CPU/GFX from the same PS. You'd be able to power your Optical drives, HD's, Pumps, lights, fans, whatever from your second PS.

I'm pretty sure we can power them separately though, just that it's not recommended.

Well I guess the PCI-express slot is powering the video partially as well as something else in that case ---> I wonder how Asus managed it with their separate PSU ?
