Multiple Monitor setup

I have a friend who want to basically do a 9 monitor grid for his computer and asked me how he should do it. What all would he need in the way of cheap vid cards and would he need any software to connect the monitors.

That's a lot of monitors. Might want to check out the Matrox pharalia or even the G400 and G450's. The G4xx seem to be available up to four monitors, pharalia does three with ok 3D, don't think it's available in PCI though.

Matrox pharalia or even the G400 and G450's will not really do the trick, there are 4 output cards that you can get. best thing to do is go to realtimesoft and read up on it...

He's going to need very proprietary and very expensive software from what I understand about the process. But if he's going to have a 9 monitor setup (and why 9?) he probably has enough cash. Just out of curiosity, why is he doing this?

i highly doubt you could ever need more than 3 monitors unless you are doing some extreme programming work. 9 is just rediculously, you couldnt even see them all at the same time, it'd be faster to open a new window than move your eyes (or possibly your whole chair) 5 feet across the room.
