Multiple Login Problem With Windows 7 VHDs

Hello everyone,

I'm just starting a job as an assistant IT administrator at my college so forgive me as I start to get used to some of these technologies. Anyways, our admin has decided to use VHDs on most of our lab computers in order to more easily manage formats, imaging, etc. However, I am experiencing a log in problem (and i'm sure other users are too, they just don't pay attention to it) when logging on to the systems.

The problem is that I sometimes have to log in twice before I can actually access my desktop. I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and login only to be returned to another login screen. Once I login this second time, it seems to go through and I can access the machine. It seems like this may only occur when a machine returns from sleep but I can't be sure about that yet.

Has anyone ever seen or heard about such an issue? Any suggestions or ideas as to what might be going on?

Lastly, as a separate and more theoretical discussion: is it a good idea to run VHDs for this purpose or is there an better way to manage imaging of Windows 7 machines?

Thanks.
