I'm looking for a device to connect multiple expresscards to a laptop. I understand the only way to get optimum efficiency from an expresscard device would be to connect it directly to the motherboard through an expresscard or cardbus (through adapter).

Are there any expresscard-based multiple expresscard adapters? Something that goes into my expresscard slot, and gives me the ability to use two expresscard devices?

Well express card is just PCI express and USB in a hot swappable form factor.
Its electrically x1 i believe, so there's no way to split that bandwidth. If there is each device would give you really really crappy performance.

I did a quick google seach, and no such device exists that I can find.
