No.
Each core must have its own unique Machine ID.
Otherwise only one core will run and all the others shutdown.

Sorry, Did not read the whole tread.

But to be sneaky use Regedit to give both boxen the same User ID but use different Machine ID's on then.
That way if your slower box gets a work unit that folds a lot better on the quicker box then just stop them both, swop both between boxen, restart.
The easiest way to up your PpD I know.

4 of my systems are set up like that useing Machine ID's 1-8.
An Athlon MP, a X2, an Opteron & a core Duo.
By swopping work units around I can run upto 1000 PpD more.
Also as each boxen run twin cores/cpu's. Odd Machine ID's were set up with -advmethods, even numbers without.

i'm at my house currently, and i set it up on a firend's pc, so i can't do anything about it now.
i'm just going to leave it the way it is for now.
his is way faster anyways, seing as it's am2 and has a gig of ram, whereas i have 512 megs of ram, and a slower processor.

his is working on a huge WU right now too.
10x bigger than the ones i normally get.
