is there a substantial performance increase between these 2 processors when running 4 instances of a game?

plan on doing it through vmware...have enough ram, have an ssd, but still wondering if a 2500 will be enough or not
thanks

You are basically asking if Hyperthreading will make a difference.

I'd say it depends on the game and its own CPU usage.

2500k will be enough but if you have CPU intensive games that use more than one core then hyper threading will help if you give each VM more than 1 thread.

But don't use the 2500K if you plan on using VT-d features in VMware, as that is not supported with this CPU.
