A buddy of mine has moved his raid out of his YeongYang YY-0221 and into a bigger home.

I've been thinking of buying it from him. My raid setup has 8 drives in an external enclosure plus then the server itself with 5 in an array and 1 os drive in its own enclosure. (Antec 900s).

Anyway... with this YeongYang, I can put all the drives into 1 box.

But I thought why stop there.... I could get 2 of the 3x5 multibay hdd cages. Like this one or this one. And then be able to add a few more drives to the mix. :)

My concern is that the 6 5.25 bays use rails to mount the 5.25 devices. So I'm not exactly sure if the cages will work.

Can anyone elaborate if the cages will work with this case/rails? Or anyone have experience with this case setup etc?

TIA

Should be fine. At one time I had that YY case and 2x 5in3 cages...worked no problem. You just put the rails on the cage and slide it in to the case. Believe it or not, with two cages in there is does get a little tight for space behind the cages with all the power cables and drive cables, PSU, etc ect., especially with those two cages that have fans on the back. It would probably be fine if you do a nice job on the wiring (which I didn't do).

Antec dragon series and a few other cases uses rails... you will be fine.

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to remember which 3x5 cages you used?

I used two of these PATA 5-in-3 enclosures. I don't have that file server any more, but I do have 1 of the drive cages left. There are much cheaper cages available, but if you are interested in this one I'll make you a good deal on the one I have left.
