Multi GPU2 & Vista

Have we found a way around having to put a VGA Dummy Plug on subsequent GPUs to get Multi GPU in Vista?

On my main rig, I've got 3 x GTX285 but I have a couple of questions (have only done single GPU before so noob here). I'm runnng Vista Ultimate x64.

If I put a dummy plug on my 2nd & 3rd GTX285, will that affect my ability to use SLI?
If not and we still don't have a way around using VGA Dummy Plugs, then I guess I need to go find some. I would Dual Boot, but frankly I don't want to have to set that up on my main rig. I can get the licenses, but Dual Boot is messy :(
 
Putting a dummy plug on the card simply makes it think you've connected a monitor - this won't prevent you from using SLI.

Don't dual boot - just use dummy plugs. You will need to disable SLI to fold (As far as I know, this is still the case).

The reason vista requires dummy plugs is that the GPU must sense a monitor connected to allow the desktop to be extended (I assume you're aware that you need to do this to get multi-gpu folding to function) - the resistors in a VGA dummy plug provide the signal vista needs to extend the desktop.
 
Ok. I guess I'm off to Radio Shack on Monday. I'll run with just the one card till later in the week. I might possibly have the Origami Master in house by the end of this week or early next week and I'll have that running as well. I'll be running WinXP x64 on that one so no worries with dummy plugs.

Vista needs a load on the cards output to extend the desktop onto.
So a monitor, KVM switch, dummy plug is needed.

It make no difference if the secondary cards output is attached to anything in SLI mode.
The are not used.

If you fold in SLI mode the you can only fold on the first card.
CUDA cannot see any of the others cards in that mode, so folding cannot see the cards to fold on as well.
