Multi Gpu setup

I am trying to get 2 cores running on my GTX 295. I followed the setup from the guide above to the letter. However, I dont have a VGA dummy or an additional monitor. Will plugging in a friends monitor to get everything setup, and then disconnecting it work? Or will the monitor need to be connected? Also, if i need to have one connected, can anyone tell me where to find a vga dummy? I am not interested in making one.

You can connect it to set it up and get it running and then disconnect but then if you restart the computer or the folding client you would have to have the monitor connected again.

Are you running XP? If so just extend the desktop to the 2nd gpu. That will force it to be active. If vista you need a dummy vga plug or a monitor connected.

Thanks guys. I think Ive got the problem solved. We will see once I get a VGA dummy. Then, I will see what my PPD goes to with the 295 from the 260
