I recently purchesed the Tsunami Thermaltake Case, Black with window and I am considering in cutting a small hole in the base of the case so i can feed some cathode lights under the case to create a cool glow at night.

I am actualy looking for a multichanging dule UV cathod kit which would allow me to change the colours of the cathode to red, blue, green and white. I think this would be more intresting than just having green or blue. Maybe a PCI slot could be taken up which allowed me to change the colour, or pace in which the colours changed. (I know thermaltake do a similar thing with there memory coolers and the pace of which the LED's flash)

First off is there anything like this on the market?
Secondly is there any problems I should be concern about?

Cheers

I'll assume one dosn't exist. Shame.

Looks as though i'll have to stick with green

StreetGlow makes them for cars. Just splice the wires and hook em up to a switch, then mount the controller box in a 5.25'' bay. They are 12v kits. (both in LED version and neon/cathode version) The neon version does 7 colors, and the neon tube version does 2 colors.

you *could* get one or two of these, they let you choose pretty much any color you want.. i got one a while ago and i removed it because the led's are not as bright as I thought they'd be, the pics on that site are misleading they must have a 10 second aperature on those shots to get those colors looking so bright lol.. but it's the closest thing I know of that lets you choose your own colors

^^ But the cables on that chameleon thing are terrible to route lol... It took me weeks to get it all perfect!

You could get a digital I/O controller like this and connect up to 8 different CCFL's to it. Anything that uses a SPST N/O switch to activate it could theoretically be controlled by this card. All you have to do is write a little code to tell it which ones you want on. It would be a very simple program too. This card also takes inputs so you could retain manual control of your CCFL's by putting buttons for them wired up to the inputs on the card and writing code to handle the button presses.

I'd like to see how anyone could fit 8 ccfl's into a standard midtower case lol

Window on the side, 4 on the window, 4 on the inner frame. Could setup a really cool lightshow like that but without some sort of spike protection you'd probably see your 12V rail voltage hopping like a mexican jumping bean.

bwhahaha.. I was thinking the same thing. :D I bet all the stock/factory computers think our pimp rigs are pretty riced out when we zip on over to a lan party. I mean, isn't that the goal with computers? Get them so awesomely riced out that they "look" cooler than other rigs. Most of these lights, windows, and front panel devices don't have performance enhancing functinoality. Its almost like putting neons, window tint, and a hood scoop on a civic and claiming it has 40whp gains. :p

I also have the Sunbeam Chameleon (didn't having any probs with the wiring). I wouldn't recommend LEDs for case lighting if your looking for something really bright. LEDs are no where near as bright as CCFL's. I switched to blue CCFL's and they're much brighter.
