I just bought a new mobo, gpu, and cpu. all seemed to be going well till my first boot. went through bios and then i got a BSOD. I think that it might be my PSU. It only has a 20 pin power cord for the motherboard's 24 pin slot. I heard that it should still work though. My PSU is a 450 watt, so i'm confused as to whether that is the reason for the bsod though. How can I determine whether it is the PSU or what it is?
 
im pretty sure you can't run a system with only a 20pin connector when it needs 24 pins lol
 
What brand is the psu?

You can run 20 pin in a 24 pin mobo. You leave 4 pins on one side open. It only fits in one way.
 
its some crappy brand that came with the X-blade case. L&C LC-B450 E

and btw, the bsod error message is like 00000007b i think, it won't even let me boot all the way, i get it as soon as the xp loading screen comes up
 
OK, i did a little homework on this one. The message said stuff about my hard drive, so i figured i better look into that. I tried the hard drive in another computer and i got the bsod again. This is not the first hard drive that I have had problems with while using this power supply. Does anyone agree/disagree with my diagnosis? I think i should maybe buy a new psu...but i'm not sure which kind, or what wattage to go with...
