i was wonder if i turned it onto 6x will the blocky shadows go away? will my frame rate take an even bigger hit?

running all high except textures 4xaa and 1280x960 75hz

Way to be utterly unhelpful ^^. I dont think the shadows have anything to do with AA unfortunately. Id love to know a way to smooth out those shadows

Agreed. AA can't possibly help something that's blocky like that. It's not a jagged or rough edge, but more a lack of detail. Seems diffferent drivers exhibit it worse than others. I don't know if they intend to make them better than the latest ones. I don't know if the engine supports higher poly-models on the shadows.

well as long as im not the only one seeing blocky shadows....so i probably wont see a differnt between 6x and 4x then right if hte shadow is not aa related.

For a quick explaination, blocky shadows are only the result of low resolution shadows. The only way to reduce the blocky effect is to increase shadow detail. That, or enable soft shadows if a game supports it.

I don't believe BF2 had such a feature, though. You're out of luck, since AA only accounts for the edges of polies. It doesn't do anything to textures, which for better or worse, are what shadow maps are (sort of).
