Much difference in the 4870 brands?

I plan to buy the new 4870, and haven't bought an ATI card since the 9700 Pro, which was an ATI branded one....great card btw....

I see the current brands for the ATI 4870 include Sapphire, PowerColor, VisionTek, Diamond and HIS. I know the cards are pretty much ATI reference, but is there much difference between the companies as far as customer service, reliability, warranties? It looks like VisionTek has a lifetime warranty on the card.....

Thanks!!!

Also, any time frame on when to expect the non-reference cards or the 1 GB versions?

Visiontek has a life time warranty. I'd go with them.

I've heard rumors that we could maybe see a 4870 1GB by the 8th of July. Don't count on it though.

Right now, the 1Gb parts haven't been announced and from what I've read, is more of a rumor than anything. Honestly, a 1Gb part makes sense though for higher resolution monitors. Based on that speculation, I'd be surprised if we didn't see them by the time the 4870x2's become available around the August time frame.

As far as a favorite brand, VisionTek is the current "go to" card with regards to warranty. Diamond might also rank up there, but I really wish there were different models (OC editions and what not) to help differentiate all the OEM reference boards currently shipping.

It's just that I found a place that has a few of the Sapphire 4870's still in stock....I guess it wouldn't hurt to wait another week for the Visiontek....

Other than the warranty, the biggest difference is that the Sapphire's have an ugly sticker. :p
