Folks:

In another thread I asked a few questions about x99 mb's without bugs and I ended up replacing an msi x99s xpower with an msi x99a xpower -- the only difference is supposed to be the addition of usb 3.1 to the x99a. The reason for the new board is that the old board had one of the bios chips go bad.

Here's what is interesting though. Like many folks with the x99 platform, my x99s had some bugs. It had difficulty booting (esp when cold); it had semi-constant usb bugs (not enough to send it back, but a couple of times a week it had an issue with a random device). The new version x99a has no issues whatsoever. Entirely bug free after a month of heavy duty.

If I were in the market for an x99 board, I think I'd be careful and shop for a board that's been revised. It may just be luck with the two boards I've had, but from reading the asus and msi forums, I'm inclined to believe that the more recent boards ironed out some bugs.

Best.

So the "A" is the new updated model? I'm in the market for a X99 board and have been wondering if it would be better to get a newer revision, like the ones coming out with USB 3.1 support.
