Hello All,

I need a little help and I'm beyond frustrated at this point on what to do and how to fix this.

I originally had an ASUS ROG Strix B650E-E Gaming WiFi AMD B650 Motherboard with CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model CMT32GX5M2D6000C36 memory. My new system was built and everything work for exactly 1 year before I started to have hanging issue with the memory. I couldn't reboot windows only cold boots would allow me to get to the OS and I couldn't do any normal restarting of windows.

So, I bought a new kit of memory thinking there was something wrong with the memory. Looking to see if that would help CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76 1.40V AMD EXPO Intel XMP Desktop Computer Memory - Gray (CMH32GX5M2B6000Z30K) - Samething no change.

Then I said screw it I'm buying a new board. So I bought the MSI X670E GAMING PLUS WIFI motherboard. Installed the Vengeance memory and right away everything worked. Then about a year later the exact same problem came back and from there I haven't been able to run on 6000mhz with anything I've tried. Only way I get it to work is shutting down my computer and having a cold boot each time. I've flashed bio's I've called MSI asked for help and nothing. Only thing they said was send it back and I told them I'm not sending anything back this should work based on your spec sheet and nothing I do makes it work.

I'm at the point where I need something I don't want to tweak any voltage I've tried
  • Memory Context Restore = Enabled
  • Power Down Enable = Enabled
  • Even set the memory to 5600mhz with the profile enabled and nothing.

Both kits do the samething both motherboards do the samething so it's not failed hardware it's for sure behavior of how these AM5 boards train. Today there was a new bio's update that looked like it might have fixed the training from MSI. I updated the bio's loaded defaults let the system reboot and went into bio's. Enabled Expo 1 profile coming out of bio's sometimes it usually hangs on training this time it didn't. Then when I went to restart windows trying that test it hung. Go back into bio's turn on some setting even tried 5600mhz just hangs it will not boot with any god damn settings only 4800mhz. If I shut down the PC and start it up it works no problem I just can't restart windows or exit out of bio's with any settings.

Please SOMEONE has had this issue I cannot be the only person that has this problem. What can I do to fix this because It's driving me absolutely INSANE..

Thank you!

RIG Spec:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 - 7900X
GPU: Radeon 6900XT
Motherboard - MSI X670E Gaming Plus
Memory - Vengeance as mentioned up top.

IIRC, the 7000 series is rated for 5200MT/s.

If it fails to work at 5200, then you have grounds to RMA the CPU (which is what I would do - just don't tell them you ever ran it faster than 5200).

For what it's worth, I had a BNIB 9950X3D that failed to work at its rated 5600 speed. The replacement worked fine with the same board and RAM.

So with that said your saying set the memory to 5200? With the expo profile enabled?

May want to try different EXPO/timing settings, have needed to adjust some values with different BIOS/AGESA revisions over the past 15 months with my 9800X3D/X670E Plus/6000 setup, one reason I've become a bit wary of updating to the latest BIOS like I used to, dealing with boot failures is no fun. GL.

I'm not sold on CPU being the problem I'm sorry. CPU issues are EXTREMELY rare and my system runs completely fine in and out of games and long periods of gaming. If there were issues I would see other things besides a stupid memory boot. Do research about this issue the only thing that makes sense is the training issues with DDR5 memory. I seen so many posts about this and I've tried nearly everything. It's not like the PC doesn't boot it works just on cold boots. Can't restart windows or go into the bio's make a change and boot back into the OS. Having the proper AGESA version within the flash that these OEM's are not paying attention to for stability and training fix is the big issue. I refuse to manually tweak voltages and anything else to get this to work. So, I just give up and hopefully MSI will fix this in time. More than likely they won't Just extremely frustrating.
