So I'm having some issues waking my PC from my XBox 360 (MCE Extender, it *does* send a magic packet).

That said, I got WOL to work once when I went into the BIOS and set the PC to use "BIOS" settings for Wakeup capabilities. However, the USB, and everything else is unresponsive so I had to do a hard reboot to get it up.

If I swap the Wakeup Capabilities to use "OS Setings", I can wake the PC only using the power button (not USB mouse or anything else, though it's plugged in through a USB hub, not sure if that matters). I can't wake up the PC using a WOL packet either.

So either I keep my PC on 24/7, which I don't like the idea of, or I can figure out this WOL issue. I'm open to ideas folks, so please if you have any.... lend a hand!

Thanks!

I think I can help as I've set up WOL quite a few times (including over the internet).

A general outline for now as I'll have to look up how MSI names this (not all BIOS's are alike):)

1) It has to be activated = enabled in the BIOS.
2) It has to be activated = enabled in Windows. You can you this at the configuration page for your LAN-adaptor (you will need administrator rights in Windows to be able to access this page).
I do not know what you mean by swapping capabilites between OS and BIOS. If any of those are set incorrectly, WOL will not work.

Also, please verify whether the packet is indeed sent correctly. Key parameter is inputting the correct MAC-address (this would be the MAC-address of the target computer). You can send a packet while the target (the one you want to wake up) is already booted and use Wireshark to check whether the packet arrives. Disable any firewall though as it might block the packet.
For Windows, please take a screenshot of the advanced page (properties of your LAN adaptor).

Just let me know whether you need more specific details if anything I posted is unclear.
