msi or gigabyte gtx 670

I have the O/C version of that MSI card. The heatsink is a multi heatpipe design and works very well. The fans spin up during POST for a few seconds, but quickly ramp down and are quiet.

If the price difference is minimal, the cooler on the MSI card is well worth the extra money.

Only the shroud on the GB is a bit flimsy, but its purpose is just to focus the airflow so the fans don't recycle the same air ad nauseum. I also decided to go for the MSI PE card because it is a little shorter than the GB, and the Twin Frozr heatsinks have always performed very well. The only complaint I have is the startup noise, becuase the fans spin in reverse at 100% for a few seconds to clear the dust, and if my case didn't have intake filters then I would love this.

I've also had to use MSI support in the past for RMA, and they've taken care of me in a reasonable amount of time.

One other thing, MSI should take the "Triple Overvoltage" claims off their 600 series. You cannot increase core voltage (without jumping through LOTS of hurdles) thanks to NV locking it down in their drivers. You still have amazing control over the card with Afterburner, just not on the core voltage.

Thanx for the replies.
I'm a little concern about the fact that the MSI's fans spin in reverse at the start, longevity wise...

I have the OC version of the Gigabyte with the 3 fans. Have had it since black friday and it has work flawlessly.

I am actually pretty impressed with it. I guess the reason it has 3 fans is that they can spin at a lower rpm and still cool the card and be quite. Can barely hear the card and card is staying pretty cool as well. Have not done any OC on top of the OC that it already has.

Didnt find the fans flimsy, found it to be a well constructed product (but I put it in my case immediately so I didnt sit there and inspect it for hours).

Also got it for a good deal which was a plus. Needless to say it plays every game on ultra with everything turned up at 1200p (i am sure the MSI one does too).

Really happy with it.

EDIT: Also heard that the customer support is pretty good. I think they have someone here in the forums from gigabyte as well.

I've been using the Gigabyte 670 for the past few weeks and it's been great so far. I can barely hear the fans even when gaming although it is Winter at the moment. The real test will be in this Summer.

/\ I dont have control of my heat (yeah it sucks I know but its NYC and there are downfalls living here). My downstairs neighbor must be freezing because the heat is CRANKED UP. Its so fucking hot sometimes that I am usually wearing shorts and tshirt, window open (its 30 degrees here) and I am still hot. Been playing BF3, sleeping dogs on ULTRA and still pretty quite, barelly hear the fans, no problem, not getting hot.

Great card, great cooler.

I can also recommend the Gigabyte. Quietest card I've owned; huge difference in noise vs. my old 9800 GTX+. Seems well-built to me as well.
