LanOC has one of those MSI Nightblade Z97 mini-ITX barebones systems on the test bench today for a little review action.

The Nightblade comes with a variation on their Z97i Gaming AC motherboard that I recently reviewed, a case, slim DVD drive, and 600 watt power supply. You just need to bring your SSD/Hard drive, CPU, heatsink, and video card. The question is, does the Nightblade make things easier and also how well does it perform.

So close, yet so far away. With latest graphics cards requiring less and less power plus decent quality higher wattage SFX PSUs on the market, I don't see a reason for an ITX rig to use normal ATX PSUs. Also, time to ditch shiny discs. That plus the cost adders of the mSATA adapters and front USB hub. Without those, I can see something like this coming in at a lower price, with similar functionality (make two of the 4 front USB ports merely 2.0) as well as being smaller and lighter in weight.

That said, kudos to MSI for even making such a product.
