MSI Afterburner

This seems to still be the go-to program that everyone uses, but it has been discontinued, correct? How long can it be expected to still be compatible with new cards that are released? Is there a successor? How about programs like EVGA Precision that are based on MSI Afterburner? Do they have any future independent of Afterburner?

Version 4.1.1 is available right now on guru3d.
Works fine with my 290X and 980Ti cards.
Works with the latest AMD and nvidia drivers.

I understand that the existing version works with current cards, my question is regarding the future.

4.1.1 "Final" has been out for a while now. I just don't see people continuing to use abandoned software long into the future. Historically there have been many popular programs like this on the computer that stopped development and were quickly taken over by a (often superior) successor.

the base Afterburner program doesn't get updated as often but the RTSS (Rivatuner Statistics Server) gets updated more which is more important...by the way a new version of Afterburner (4.2.0) is set for release any day now
