MSI 6600GT big problems, help :(

I received my PCI-E MSI 6600GT today from newegg. Installing it and botting up windows had no errors, but when I try to run 3dmark or ANY game that requires 3D, the screen goes black, and it will reboot after about 20 seconds. I've tried a couple different drivers, and it does not help. It even freezes up my computer when I try to run the 3D Text screen saver! The 2D ones seem to work though, and I don't notice any windows corruption.

My system specs:

Celeron D 2.53 325J CPU
ASUS P5GD1 915 chipset motherboard
Antec Truepower 420W
512MB (2x256) Kingsmax PC3500

I have not overclocked nor have played with any BIOS settings. I recently had a 6200 in it which I had modded to a 6600 via rivatuner and I had not had any problems with it whatwoever. I also should note that my PSU only has a 20 pin power connector, but the motherboard has a 24 pin power connector, but states that it works with a 20 pin.

Any help would be appreciated...going now to try the very latest drivers.
 
sounds kindalike its overheating, make sure the heatsink is on well
 
MSI heatsinks are never on well from what I'm hearing in these forums, however, it is only warm to the touch on the back of the card, and that's after running for a few minutes.
 
That means it might not be attached as well as it should be. If its only a little warm it might only be touching a part of the GPU. If its hot, then its doing its job, its dispersing heat through the heatsink =).

Kraken, the PCIE version of the 6600GT is a flawed design. The only thing stabilizing the HSF (heatsink fan keywords for a search) are 2 flimsy plastic spikes.

Light pressure easilly rotates the HSF a few degress, and as was pointed out above, if you hold it from the bottom (or the side opposite the other memory), the HSF pops right off the memory.

This is a known issue (to everybody but ATI, who claims they've never heard of any problems!!!). The only reason I picked this one up, was I thought they'd revised the design, butapparently that was only on the AGP version, not the PCIE version.

Also, for those who are wondering, it's just copper plated (at best). It looks nice, but the card isn't that heavy, so i doubt it's really a copper HSF.
