msconfig > startup fails to turn off Quicktime at Startup

Should be able to either right-click the icon (or start QT, then go to Preferences) > Preferences > Under general (IIRC) there is a checkbox for showing the QT icon in the system tray. That'll get rid of it. If you want to get rid of QT inserting itself on startup every time you run it, you'll need to rename the QTTask file to something else.

Or, just run Quicktime Alternative.

dig around in the setting for quicktime. IIRC there should be a setting to disable it. Or you could rename the executable file so it will not find it and will not run.

Um. It's a plainly visible option in the qicktime control panel. Simply uncheck "install quicktime tray icon"
