I bought a laptop that had a Samsung 128gb Msata in it and I upgraded it to a Intel 240gb Msata. I know they make adapters that I could use to install the 128gb drive in my desktop but what kind of performance would I see in a desktop? Right now I have a couple 1TB WD Blacks and would not mind to use this drive as a OS drive. Would it compare to say a 128gb M4 or Intel 80gb 2.5" SSD?

Thanks for any info!

you should see the same I/O performance as in the laptop when adapted and put into the desktop. what model is the SSD? knowing the model would give more details as to performance compared to the other drives you mention.
