I just picked up one of these - the Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer. So far I really like it. It's pretty comfy & 'fits' good. The side buttons aren't in the way as much as some of the earlier versions and MS seems to have improved their buttons and taken out some of the 'slack' in them, they have a crisp click to em.

I haven't noticed any lag with it, and it keeps up better than my wireless Logitech Trackball. It picks up as soon as you touch it, no waiting for it wake up or anything. The feet on it seem to have some extra glide to em, it's really smooth sailing.

My gripes with it is that the scroll wheel doesn't have the click each time you rotate it. It's just a personal thing, but I like to be able to feel when I'm moving the wheel. The side-to-side scrolling is "meh". Cool, but probably won't use it much.

Reception gets glitchy about 3 feet away from the reciever. Not too bad, but won't work for across the room HTPC work, and not sure if that decreases with battery life yet. No recharger, but not a problem for me. MS claims longer battery life, and I have a good stock of AAs anyway.

I bought it at Staples, since they dropped their price on the leather one. Unfortunately they were out of stock of em and I didn't feel like waiting to order one so I got the platinum one which matches my case just fine. Amazon has em for ~$40. At the store they run ~$50.

Pros: Comfy, smooth, no lag, a few bucks cheaper than it's competitors, even cheaper if you go with the non-explorer one.

Cons: Scrolling is so-so, reception distance is so-so.
