ZDNet is reporting that Microsoft has filed for two patents covering technology used to organize and read syndicated Web feeds. The patents were actually filed in June of last year but, thanks to the required 18 month waiting period, the patents were only made public knowledge today.

The pair of applications were made public by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for what appears to be the first time on Thursday, following the expiration of a requisite 18-month window in which applications are generally kept secret.

I don't get it, isn't this what all of the major browsers do now anyway? Wasn't IE one of the last to get this added in?
