Hey, data base moguls, I need an advice with a problem I have with a customer, the problem is described below:
One of my customers is operating over EMC platform, and from Windows environment he can administer his shares and content (create, delete and share) using SAMBA I and SAMBA II this tasks are not supported by Oracle ZFS.
According with Oracle the release for this sharing feature will be in 2Q 2014.
This create a production process problem with negative impact for my customer, because from Windows they share subfolders that are within their shares and this subfolders are seen as root share, something that in Oracle ZFS is not supported at this time.
In another words, the ZFS do not support the feature of subfolders sharing within a root share level from Windows or Storage.
E.g.
/Windows/ --> Subfolder create in Windows share
/Test/ --> Share2 (ZFS can not make this)
Oracle confirmed that this feature is not supported.
I need suggestions from Data Base world for options to resolve this matter.
Tony
