So last night I checked my SMP on my main machine and it was at 100% and shutting down the MPI thing. So I went to bed figuring it takes a couple minutes to clean up before sending and starting a new WU. So this morning I get up and its still stuck there. I shut it down and then restart it and its still stuck, but this time it's just sitting there with something about the license agreement I think. I don't know, I got up early and can't remember now that i'm at work. Anyone else had the client get hung up after finishing a WU?

It can happen to hang when a WU finish but yours seems to be worse. My advice would be to stop everything, kill all the processes, rerun install.bat then restart in hope it works again.

I have one machine doing the same exact thing. It is Vista 64 bit machine and I am getting very tempted at turning off UAC perm and see if that fixes... worst case I'm reinstall the client this weekend. It has hung on me 3 times sitting at shutting down mpi. Even though I ran the client as Administrator!!! OYE!!!

Trouble shooting all these little issues is keeping me busy. Network router overloads, a machine that likes to disconnect from the network mid day every day! My HTPC just stopping upon finishing. All are causing my 17k Farm to only output 12k... :(

Yeah i'm running vista x86 and i've already got UAC turned off even though windows yells at me sometimes for leaving it off. I'll see what i can do with it during lunchtime and let everyone know.

Strange, I've had this happen a couple times on my x64 Vista as well...never paid a lot of attention to it or what WU it was, just restarted and it shoved it on up to Stanford.

I've had that as well.

I just reboot and cross my fingers! After a reboot it sends off the WU and grabs another.

The real problem is when this occurs mid day and you lose 6 or 7 hrs of folding time!

Happens on my Vista x86 install too. Although not all the time, sometimes it goes through, sometimes not - this morning it hung (seems to be 50/50ish chance). Although luckily it was idle for only ~2-3 hours max before I woke up and killed it/restarted to send the data & get a new WU.

Maybe you can figure it out, I've tried re-installs and it didn't do anything for me. I hate losing up to 8 hours of folding time on a regular basis dammit!

Yeah this is the first time i've seen it happen since i started running the SMP client. So I went home for lunch today and played with it some. Tried to run the install again and it wouldn't do anything else, so I gave it the good ole reboot and TADA! the client fired right up, sent the WU, and grabbed a new one. It had already completed 2 steps when I left. But like Sunin said, it sucks cause i lost valuable folding time, about 12 hours worth :(

I make it a habit of tending to my crops...errr......computers, early before I go to work ,and then again when i come home. I practically live downstairs in my basement area working on or tweaking machines when I can. Hey, its a fun hobby, and it keeps me out of trouble. :D

LOL funny thing is, this hobby gets me INTO trouble because the wife thinks its dumb and we should spend money on useless stuff for the house instead.
