MP3s abruptly ending

I have a ton of songs that suddenly end. The entire song is there on the computer, and ipod, and they are not set to end before the entire song has played.

To clarify... Johnny Cash: I walk the line, plays until the first verse starts, then jumps to the next song. If I skip ahead it will play for a few seconds, then skip to next song.

Any ideas?

I am admittedly mp3tarded (©2008 me). I only accepted them as the new CD a few months ago.
 
I havent used an iPod so dont know if this is possible, but this sounds like you may have set the player to a preview mode.
ie it will play a short amount of each track.
 
No, I have double checked. Everything is set up right that I can find..... 95% of my stuff plays fine.
 
Maybe its errors in the MP3's, that the iPod doesnt handle so well.
Try opening the MP3 with some editing software and then saving again.
The error detection/correction capability of the software will no doubt vary a lot so you might need to research which is best.
With any luck then it will rewrite the damaged section when you save.
 
Check to make sure the MP3s are not corrupt? That's pretty much what happened when the NTFS driver I used on OSX fucked up and started corrupting data that I put on a NTFS partition (like some of my MP3s).
 
I have had the same problem for a while now. I have a large music collection (120GB) and *most* of the songs play find in itunes. Every so often I run into a song that just won't play until the end of the song and itunes automatically jumps to the next song. I've tried figuring out what the corruption is but to no avail. Would appreciate any help/experience that others have.
 
Thanks for the replies. I tried re-encoding a couple of the songs, and they came up shorter than they should be. As if the originals were missing sections, and that was making itunes/ipod end the song. I'll just have to track down all the NFG ones, and rerip.
