Hi. I am thinking about asking for a Rio Carbon 5GB hard drive mp3 player for christmas, but I have one big question:

Of course you can upload mp3s, but is it possible to upload other file types as well (to use it as a storage medium)? It would be nice to be able to use it to carry school papers and such.

Come on, all I'm asking is if you can put files other than MP3's on an mp3 player. Surely somebody here has tried.

I've put other types of files on my Dell DJ. Dunno about the Rio though.

With the DJ, you will need to install drivers on the computer you want to link with.

you know if the Rio is borked.... Rio doesn't support thier mp3 players anymore right hehe.... but how mcuh and where are u getting it from!!!

Yes, the Rio Carbon acts like a generic USB Mass Storage device. Therefore, you can put any file you like on the Carbon.
