Hi there,

I was not sure where to post this, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on MP3 players. I have read and heard that samsung and sony are pretty good. IPODS are really good, but I am not sure if I can justify the price. As well, I am not sure I would be able to fill the size of them and having to search for specific songs could get tidious. I know that the majority of IPODS are hard drive and the other mp3 players are flash drives (which are volatile and succeptible to problems over time). If you have any thoughts please let me know as I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
 
I got a Creative Zen Nano and i love it :D I can use it as a flash drive, listen to FM radio, record cd's from a cd player if i have the cord with me. Comes with a mic even though i haven't used it and it was cheaper than an iPod. :eek: Has a nice blue blacklight and comes with a protective holder.

The iPod Nanos are flash, the Mini (discontinued) and the regular version are hard drives.

If you plan on buying accessories, the iPod market is flooded with aftermarket products, while other products have a much smaller selection.
 
iaudio and iriver are other great companies producing high quality digital audio players that you should take a look at as well. and you are right, it's hard to justify the ipod's price nowadays considering that there are other players out there with more features, same quality (if not better), for less. how much were you looking to spend? what features are you looking for?
 
I am willing to spend at most 150 CDN, but not necersarily that much. I mainly just need it to listen to music while working at a boring job. I guess that would would mean I need something basic with little features. Anyone have any idea how quickly flash mp3 players fail? Reason I ask is because I wonder if it's worth buying extended warranty on them. I have talked to a few friends that have had various experiences with IPODs and flash mp3 players with mixed feedback on both.

A flash player will be obsolete due to lack of storage space far before the memory ever goes bad. I have never seen a flash player go bad because of the memory, however, hard drive failures do occur in HD based units.
