I just purchased a brand new 256mb Creative Muvo TX FM for my mom, and whenever a button is pressed (turning on/off, changing volume, ff/rw, etc.) there is a soft hum/buz sound. After about 5 seconds, the sound goes away and everything is fine until we press a button again. - then it's another 5 or so seconds of the sound.

The hum/buz sound is kind of like white noise, like the sound u would hear with the volume turned to 0 on some players. I've heard this noise before on an old cassette player when the volume was rolled to 0.

I just want to know if this is a hardware problem, or if all of the creative muvos are like this. I've tested the player out with 3 different headphones, and same effect.

I'm going straight into Creative Labs for this one.

update: Apparently all Creative Muvo flash mp3 players make a buzzing noise when the backlight comes on. Lame-o. Firmware didn't fix, and moderator on their official forum said that they're working on it. The buzz is quite annoying.

Purchased this thing on sale. Should have stayed with Iriver. Keep away from the Muvo flash players until they fix the backlight buzz.
 
Open it up and ground everything :) (or don't and let them get you a new one because that seems like a grounding problem that they should have resolved).
 
I just recently (3 days ago) bought the Creative Zen Micro (Black) and I love it.

What sucks is when I went to listen to tunes, their ear bud headphones were broken. The left speaker won't make a sound. Yay.

I just took the loss and threw em back in the box. I had already purchased some headphones for an earlier mp3 player so i went ahead and used them. Still, cheap ear buds continue to circulate throughout the world bundled with mp3 players. :(
