what is the best program to use to convert my mp3's or other files to a different bitrate mp3? thanks

dBpowerAMP is probably the best, easiest, and free. It's a very small program and works fast.

remember though...

changing the bit rate, if a already archived file is your source..i.e. a mp3, will most likely NOT improve anything.

if you have the raw source, then re converting would, yes.

but mp3 to mp3 will most likely only result is less quality, not more.

i just want to be able to convert 320kbps source mp3's to 128kbps vbr so i can store more on my new Chocolate2 LG 8550 phone/mp3 player, my understanding is is going from a CD or high bitrate mp3 and downsizing it to 128 vbr should produce acceptable results while saving a lot of space

kind of new to all this mp3 thing so i am going off of what i was told, this new phone supports up to a 4Gb memory card but i only have a 1Gb micro SD card in it right now so i want to maximize space without losing quality

if anyone knows the best way to move the files over to the phone and keep them well organized that would be helpful, i tried the WMP11 sync thing, it is too complicated and too many options, the VZW Music Manager software that came with the phone is crap, so right now i am using Bitpim to transfer files

a friend with the same phone said to choose a group of songs, like one album, move them over, then on the phone create a playlist and put those songs into the playlist, then repeat for the next album, because if you do it the standard way the songs dont seem to organize themselves very well
