While it is certainly alarming that other tech companies haven't come out against CISPA, at least Mozilla is doing the right thing.

While we wholeheartedly support a more secure Internet, CISPA has a broad and alarming reach that goes far beyond Internet security. The bill infringes on our privacy, includes vague definitions of cybersecurity, and grants immunities to companies and government that are too broad around information misuse. We hope the Senate takes the time to fully and openly consider these issues with stakeholder input before moving forward with this legislation.

I kind of want to punch everyone in the house that passed this right in the junk. It's disgusting how transparent our government is about being bribed.
 
Can we propose a bill for a scarier and less secure internet? I would love to see what that kind of freedom is like.

I say we overthrow the government, elect BRAND NEW PEOPLE, that WE THE PEOPLE choose, and they won't run as DEMOCRAT or REPUBLICAN, but just as a PERSON. THEN, we RE-WRITE all the laws ever made, and go from there.

My question is why didn't Microsoft and Mozilla step in when CISPA was announced as a replacement for the other two bills that got knocked out? Why isn't there as much widespread angst as there was before?

Probably because it is pretty much back2back that people don't have the care or energy to bitch about this one.
 
Hasn't Google yet officially come out against CISPA? If not, shame on them.

They're going to win, you realize that, yes? If all it takes is round 1 or round 2 to get people tired, that's pretty sad.
 
I do realize that, but others do not. Others have lost interest, they have given up... in a place where the big powers will keep trying to force something like this up over and over, a lot of people feel helpless. They're idiots though who don't know that they can help. Blah, i just want to move out of this country.
 
Move? To where? No European country worth moving to isn't affected by ACTA and stringent antipiracy laws. Maybe Switzerland.
 
Anyone else see this as Mozilla's attempt to regain lost users by seeming the good guy, whereas they'd otherwise probably don't really give a rats ass whether CISPA passes or not?

When did Mozilla ever portray themselves as evil? Firefox is an open source web browser while Chrome isn't. Even if Chrome is based on Chromium which is open source. I honestly don't even know how Mozilla even makes money.

Wow, you guys sure pulled a 180. I'm merely playing a devil's advocate seeing how more users in the [H] are becoming disenchanted with Firefox of late with their slowness and their decision with rapid versioning. But go on kissing Mozilla's ass if that's your thing.

I guess we can't have a conversation here without the name calling these days. :rolleyes:

But really, the "attention whore" card is used quite often by forum goers, when a public figures that say things that are agreeable to most here. Where you making fun of that habit?

Anyways, I'm all for people articulating the CISPA situation well. We need more people doing that. When people state their case people learn, and that seems to be what GovCo doesn't want.
