I'm going to move my lab to ESX from Hyper-v since I am starting to use Linux more regularly and the support for Linux guests on HV still leaves a bit to be desired.

With that in mind, my current NICs are not detected and even using a custom ISO i am not getting them recognized.

I have Intel i350-AM4 Quad Port PCIe NICs. It appears that only the i350-Tx is supported.

Given all of this, any thoughts on some good NICs for my Lab?

I have two Hosts and iSCSI running on a Syno 1812+

I'd suggest checking the VMware HCL to be sure. Generally, a single, dual or quad Intel gbe NIC can be had for cheap on eBay.

^ agreed, I don't know much about NICs but I know mine wasn't supported and a custom ISO fixed it (took a bit of research, turns out someone actually created their own ISO and uploaded it which saved me the trouble of making my own). If not, then as suggested, a cheap intel NIC will do the trick

Just to update with the solution...

I booted to ESXi 5 instead of 5u2 and it worked.
I then upgraded to 5u2 and they disappeared.
I made sure it had the latest drivers...still no NICs

I then upgraded the firmware on the NICs and they are all back.

Hopefully this helps someone.
