i am going to build a comp soon and i need to find a way to move all of my data to the new comp. I am thinking about installing Windows XP on the new hd first and plug in my old hard drive after i install windows. Will this work and if it works do i just have to drag my files onto the new hd?
thanks

Most hard drive formating software give you the option of setting your drive up as the boot drive and automatically copying the data from one drive to the other.

Make sure your jumpers are set right, setting the new drive as the slave, format/copy (this takes awhile depending upon how much data you have). After the format/copy is done, reset the jumper to master and put the drive on the end cable and your ready to go.

only if he clones the drive with the Old OS and drivers to the new HDD it wont boot in the new computer :p
