I am not sure where to ask this, so figured this case section might get me started.

I am attempting to put together a transportable PC for the military. I need to find a manufacturer that either builds PCs in a case, or will custom build a case around my PC. I do not mean a laptop, I mean a computer in a case type thing. You see them in all the military movies. The bad guys roll up a hard shell travel case, pop it open, plug in an AC cord, and boom the LCD inside the case starts to boot up, the keyboard is there in the bottom of the case, the mb & all is under the keyboard. I need something like this, anyone know where to even start, or what its actually called?
 
Are you thinking of somthing like the MPC-9000 rugged PC from a couple of years ago? It was what we called a "luggable" or were you thinking of something larger? The US military uses laptops in the field now.
 
i know what he is talking about it looks like one of those silver money case things only thicker at the bottom, the top opens up and there is a LCD monitor and then on the bottom there is a keyboard (i would think something similar to that of a laptop) and then below the keyboard there are all the components (ie motherboard, processor, etc, basically what he wants to make is a laptop on steroids.

It might be tough to find one with the MB in the keyboard. My Commodore 64 had that. :p This one is pretty cool looking and it has a 20" LCD.

Are you in a branch of the military, or are you a civilian and/or civilian contractor?

I'm assuming contractor- since you are building it for the "military."

What I would do- if you don't want to buy a pre-manufactured ruggedized solution, is get a Pelican case or something similar, and try to adapt that to your needs.

We used Pelican cases to transport various munitions under various conditions, and they are pretty good at isolating things against shock/vibration/moisture- things like that.

Be sure to post pics, if permitted!
 
Pictures would most likely not be allowed, sorry. I have found something that may actually work better for my purpose, hardigg has some cases that seem to be along the lines of what might work better for me. Thanks for the help.
