Hi,
First time poster here. I have ten 1TB drives in a freenas RAIDz2 that just isn't providing the stability or speed that I want so I've been lurking on here so see what's out there.

Here is what I'm planning: I'm planning on getting a Norco 4224 case to put all my drives in. I like the speed of a DAS but I want to be able to bring my data with me if I go somewhere like I can with my NAS now so I was thinking out getting an LSI 9280-4i4e. I could could put the raid card in my main computer and connect to a SAS expander in the norco using the 4e port and a 8088 cable. Likewise if I an going on a trip and I want to bring my data with me I could move the raid card into the norco onto a mobo that is always in there but normally not running or powered.

My question is this:
If I have one or more more raids connected to sas expander, can I move the cable that connects the expander and raid card together between the 4i port and the 4e port without loosing or needing to rebuild the raid?

Thanks in advance,
-Grog
