Anyone else getting the big dbgromacs. I have two 852 pointers on my machines right now. One A64 3000+ is putting out 321 ppd according to EM. I looked and there are some 1264 point dbgromacs out there somewhere.
 
Yah there have been several threads about them here and there.
My AXP 3200 at home is chewing on a 689 pointer or such.

Iirc there are whoppers as large as 1200 points.

 
Yes, they have lots of points, but it doesn't look like they have the points bonus for taking lots of RAM. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

 
already set my 64 to -advmethods and got a 48 point Gromacs.

Here's hoping I get one of those. I love getting units I never got before. :D

They don't take alot of ram, just take a long time to crunch. Normal WU's basically, just long, ~50 meg ram.
 
What are you peeps getting for PpDpGhz for a dedicated folder on these big 'uns?
My fastest netted, non-QMD, semi dedicated machine is a measly 1.8Ghz Applebred which is chewing on a 2359 (604 points) with a frame time of 1:17:30 for about 61 PpDpGhz, which is about in the range for some of my other AMD machines.
My QMD chewer gets about 82 PpDpGhz



/edit - I did look at the Processor performance matrix thread but did not see any of these huge proteins.
 
Hey - No slam on your excellent chart!!
That p2360 worth 1294 points would be slated to take the 2.8Ghz reference machine almost 2 WEEKS!. I bet not many people have turned a lot of them in yet. If one of my p3 machines got a p2360 it would be good for a month!.

 
I guess this might be one solution for the Stanford server/local electrical/internet connection outages. If you're only connecting once every couple weeks, the chance of hitting an outage are that much smaller.

heh heh. so true.

.. hope this explains my drop of in PPD.. hopeful alot of distant machines are chewing on some solid food :D

 
I just got a 1294 pointer that EM says is supposed to take about 100 hours to complete on my A64. It's using about 70 MB of ram.


 
Like most DGromacs if you can run SSE2/3 boost then you get a nice boost in Points per Day.
p2352_FKBP, 33 mins a frame @ 2.4 Ghz on an Opteron.
p2352_FKBP, 81 mins a frame @ 2.0 Ghz on an Athon MP.

FahCore_7a.exe is only useing 5.6k of memory as opposed to 43k of memory for FahCore_79.exe which is running my other Opteron.
Ones a DGromac and the others an Amber.

Luck.......... :D
