A new 3D benchmark focusing on lighting effects and performance, aptly dubbed Lightsmark, has been released for free by Czech software author Stepan Hrbek. In the end it is still an artificial benchmark, but they still have a place in your software toolbox.

Unlike 3DMark and other complex benchmarks, this one offers quite good looks and performance to lower and more affordable segment of 3D market. Thanks to efficiency of OpenGL 2.0, a flyby scene featuring global illumination and penumbra shadows can run on mid-class hardware.

It's pretty meh. It's just a relatively mediocre lighting demo. I'm no fan of 3DMark, but this is not even close to the same league.

Yep, torrent all the way. I was getting between 0 and ~4.4k (kept resetting download or something)...Downloaded torrent @ full speed (~170k+).

Don't care much for artificial benchmarks, but for only ~29MB download, I thought I'd give it a try.

84.6, 7900GT (Vista HP, EVGA N584, UNDERclocked @ 481/1460ish ["green" screen @ stock :(])....That's with plenty of programs running - uT, F@H Mon/F@H SMP, and so on.

I dug the catchy tune that was playing during the benchmark.

1280x1024 (E6700, 8800GTX) = 406.7

I, for one, stopped benchmarking when I stopped upgrading.:p

While I don't pay as much attention to the numbers, I love watching something that could make my gpu choke choke a little.

oh yea..dont bother using the non torrent link..i was getting 1.1K lol

0.9 here. didn't feel like waiting 8+ hrs. torrent link: 4min.

Anyway 217.9 on my sig rig. not as incredible, but fun.

seeing your guys' results...i dont think this "benchmark" really stresses the card that much...

what about AA on and stuff? how is everyone doing with that?

or can you even turn it on for this?

well i forced 8xS AA w/Supersampling (i suppose thats what 8xS is but I never use it) and 16x AF. did it at my native 1680x1050 and got 41.9 fps

rig is in sig cept its a 7900GT @ 550/1400. still waitin on my 8800GT :). maybe i'll do the same with the drivers and see how much of an improvement it is when i get it.

37.4 fps, 1280x1024, AMD XP 2500+, 6800GT.

It's nice to see a benchmark that runs decently on my ol' codger machine.

"What's that, you say, Sonny?"

q6600 4gb 8800 320

1280 x 1024 201.8
1600 x 1200 172.7

my scores seen low compaired to other peoples. is it vista 64 slowing me down?

1440x900 - 55.5
SLI 2x 6800 GS

Worst benchmark ever! Haha. It was just lighting effects... RTHDRIBL is better at that.

Yet it was funny listening to the song. 3dmark should put some corny songs into their benchmarks. ;)

8600gt @ cpu/shader 720/1620 825 ram
vista /w cartoons running on the 2nd monitor (i refuse to turn them of for ANYTHING!!!)

144 @ 1024x768

downlaoded torrent in 1.5mins

1680x1050 - 87.0 fps
1280x1024 -102.7 fps

cool music ;p

352.7 @ 1680x1050 - Windowed
323.8 @ 1920x1200 - Full Screen

8800 Ultra OC/ 2.6 Quad Core Extreme

I wish you could edit your first post... :)

In case anybody wanted it on your portable players...

79fps average on 1680x1050 , horrible screen tearing, stutters and Vista.
