Seems like everyone here is talking about VMware's offering (rarely ever see anyone reference hyper-v) and I am getting tired of the windows 7 remote management console failing to connect to my hyper-v server all the time and magically connecting sometimes when it wants to. Not only that, but it was a pain to get them to connect in the first place with firewall rules, add ins, and command line prompts that had to be done on both the desktop and the server.
It seems that vSphere Hypervisor can be easier than this, have a smaller footprint and work more reliably?
Do I lose anything going to VMWare because I will be using their "free" product? Like limitations on my hardware? I dont have $500+ to drop on their license fee's because this is just me at home, not a business.
Last, I read I can import my Hyper-V virtual machines, is this true and is there any downside to doing so?
Thanks for any tips!
