Now a friends mouse worked before but he took it so I got a new mouse. Problem is despite plugging it in the USB it doesn't work. It keeps saying it's an unknown device. I've tried 2 different mice, restarted the comp and even tried different USB ports.

Specs:

Mobo: ABIT IP35-E LGA 775
Proccessor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500
Graphics Card: MSI NX8800GT 512M OC GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3
Memory: mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
PSU: Corsair VX 550W
OS: Vista x64
 
I had the same problem with a logitech mouse and keyboard. If you dont install the drivers for that particular mouse, it wont work. I have no idea why this is, but I tried everything else and that was the only thing that worked.
 
Search for the drivers from manufac site. It should work if you are running vista.
