Mouse sensitivity problems in Battlefield 1942

I can't seem to make my mouse sensitivity work right in battlefield 1942 or any of its mods. I try adjusting the sensitivity to what I want and it works fine in menus and when I'm spectating, but the second I'm alive and aiming the sensitivity is not what I set it to. No matter what setting I try it's always the same. Does anyone else have this problem? It's extremely agrivating since in almost every fps shooter I use a sensitivity around 1-2 and this current setting feels like 6-8.
