Okay this is weird. I've been hearing these annoying, quick bursts of like a cricket/chriping noise, but a slightly lower freqency so it's not super high pitch. I've reinstalled drivers on sound card (sb live 5.1) and I didn't know what the chirping noise was. I checked my speakers and still couldn't find it.

Then I realized; it seems to happen when I scroll with my new Mx510. I installed the drivers on that; I might tweak with it but I was just curious as to what this could be? I have the mouse plugged into USB 2 slot. This happens especially in itunes.

Also, the sound in CS;S is just this noise blanketed over every other sound. Sounds horrible. This is after a format and a clean install of drivers I had been using for years on my sound card. What could be causing this???


I have reinstalled directx as well....
 
I have the same issue, your mouse doesnt happen to be wireless? I think its some type of noise caused by the CPU or something, that somehow is ampilified by a sound card.
 
I've been having the same problem. Whenever I do anything that ups my CPU usage, I get buzzing/chirping. I thought it was my X-connect PSU, so I exchanged it for another, and the sound is quieter now, but still there. According to Asus probe my rails, while not amazing, are fairly stable, and they don't behave abnormally when I am getting the buzzing. I have reformatted a couple of times, and used an Intel mobo before my Asus. Nothing got rid of the sound.

As mentioned before, it happens when I am scrolling, or dragging a Window. I also get the noise when I first open CS:S and am looking at the main menu. Far Cry also gives me this noise.

The Buzzing is pretty much covered up by my speakers, but it would be nice to know what is going on.

Same thing happens on my kid sister's computer...
