I currently have a Magic Trackpad, which works pretty well. I am looking for a standard mouse for when I program. I also play D3, on the rare occasion.

Any suggestions?

I am looking at:

If you recommend Logitech, I need the mouse to have a driver. I have a G400, this mouse is useless in OS X. Most of the G line from Logitech is Windows only drivers.

No driver = choppy performance.

I know everyone around here hates Razer. I personally own a Razer Mamba and have had it for almost 2 years. I would recommend it...I've never had any issues with it.

People around here tend to hate Razer, as they have a tendency for going into double click mode and double clicking at random.

I have one that looks like that, I think it was the mx700. I just dug it out of a box the other day while packing readying for my move. I could pack it up and ship it to you but I haven't tested it out on osx.

it was really comfortable in the hand if that's a concern. I haven't used a mouse in many many years (I use a trackball on my gaming rig). The only time I like using one on my macbook is when I play D3 and I use that old silver MS one with a big red ball.

Original mamba has little to no OSX support. I just sold mine because it became absolutely useless once I moved over from a windows box.

The 2012 edition has the synapse driver, but I cannot vouch for it.

Ideally, logitech or microsoft mice will be your best bet -- in terms of drive support, at least.

I use a microsoft mobile mouse 4000 -- it's a smaller, portable mouse, but it works well and the driver appears to do mouse acceleration like it does in windows (which is nice, hate osx acceleration).

that's what I have, the Revolution, I replaced my MX700 with that Revolution

I've actually found the Magic Mouse to be one of the better mice I've used.

I've been using a Performance MX on my MBP for a couple years now, combined with USB Overdrive. Works great for me. YMMV

The only non-Apple mouse I've used with my macs is the Razer Naga. It works great, no issues at all, but it's a rather niche mouse.

Steelseries Sensei for me. I have one on my PC, a Sensei RAW on my Mac, and a Xai that travels with my notebook.

Best of all, Steelseries has a mouse acceleration utility for OS X that is the best I've used. It feels perfect. Download it here, its at the bottom of the page. I think it works not matter what the brand of mouse is.

SS Laser Ikari is great comfortable mouse. Designed for right handed people.

Great for gaming or general usage.

I use Razer naga for gaming as well. It comes handy. you could also save money since they have sale pretty often. I don't really like wireless mouse because of it's weight

logitech mice with onboard memory have the option to ignore os drivers/acceleration. Although the software to edit/save the profiles is windows only the mouse still functions 100% in osx. I prefer the g700 myself

Another Logitech Performance MX + MBP user here. I think as long as you get one with their unified USB dongle thing you should be good as it's driver works fine in OSX. I've also got the Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX that I keep in the laptop bag (Perf MX lives at my desk as it's kind of big) and I use the same dongle for both.

I'll throw in my $.25 worth (inflation, you know). I've used nothing but Logitech for quite a while now. Every time I would pick up mice on display they seemed much better built than the competition. I don't think you can go wrong with Logitech.

My personal favorite is the Anywhere MX. I don't have big hands, and it fits me well. I've even used it for gaming (Battlefield 2 & Play4Free mostly), and would get accused of cheating a lot. Yeah, I have some skills, but the damn mouse is good too. It isn't a gaming mouse, but performs well in game anyway. It also has decent battery life with alkalines and good quality rechargeables. The unifying receiver is nice too, but I won't ever be pairing a keyboard with it. maybe they will come out with other devices that I might use, if they are Mac compatible that is.
